Own Your Slut

Slut is an edgy word.

It can trigger all kinds of feelings and memories.

I’ve had so many people tell me that maybe should call her the seductress or sacred whore or something more paletable – but here’s the thing – it’s good to be confronted! it’s powerful to notice where we are triggered and to explore why that is. To open to those edges that make us feel uncomfortable.

The Slut is often one of them.

We live in a society where there is a huge amount of sexual shame. Women are sent confusing as fuck messages about what it means to be sexy. In one sense we are told to dress like this or have this size body or this kind of face and hair so we can be sexy and desirable, but then on the other hand women who do enjoy their bodies and express their pleasure are called sluts. It’s seriously whacked and we’ve got a long way to go.

I believe that we are only truly free when we can own all parts of ourselves, the pure, innocent, shy, nervous, soft parts and the wild, dark, intense, unsavoury parts. we are all of it and when we can love and embrace all of it we are free because nothing triggers us or shuts us down anymore. I would have loved as a teenager to have learnt the dancing eros work with all my friends and learnt to embrace and love the slut in me, how much less damage would have been done if I could have healthily explored all aspects myself with love and respect rather than being cut down and bullied for it.

I have seen hundreds of women awaken to their slut energy and there is so much JOY and RADIANCE , PLEASURE and BEAUTY that opens up when we say yes to this aspect of us that loves pleasure and loves being seen.

The slut has nothing to do with how many sexual partners you have – it’s about confidence, permission, play and sexual liberation. Only when we reclaim that word shamelessly rather than seeing it as degrading or disrespectful can we really have that.
